Kitty Jensen and St. Barnabas: “What Can We Do?”

Kitty Jensen

One morning, as she often does, Kitty Jensen was reading her morning prayers. One prayer asked, "What do you have that God can use?" As Kitty sat with that question, she realized, "Today God is encouraging me to do something.”

She thought of the recent appeal email from Corner Shower and Laundry, and realized that she felt called to share it with her congregation, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Chelsea, MI.

She wanted to raise the consciousness within her community about Corner Shower and Laundry's work and needs. Although she felt that “asking” was out of her comfort zone, she was able to recruit others to help.

Over the next few weeks St. Barnabas members collected laundry detergent, body washes, bleach, spray deodorants, and over 200 shaver kits plus $350 of monetary donations.

St. Barnabas is a small rural congregation with a huge heart with a mission to give back to God’s people. Thank you, Kitty, for listening to your call to serve, and bringing others along with you!
